Even if visiting in person, most if not all of the techniques of AIT can be performed by one therapist. However it's usually extremely helpful to have another 'body' there (for example, when muscle testing) and ideally this should be you or your horse's usual rider/carer.
During the same visit, I can also work with you separately if you have your own issues connected with riding, such as anxieties, self-doubts, lack of confidence or performance issues.
Where AIT with two therapists really comes into its own is where both human and equine issues are directly related, or have become more complex, or just where it's helpful to pool our intuitive resources. In other words, any situation where it would be beneficial or necessary to work with both you and your animal's issues at the same time.
Examples might include relationship difficulties and misunderstandings, sporting or public performance problems, specific cases of unexplained behaviour, as well as pain, anger or fear-based issues that are based on a shared past trauma, to name a few.
When working distantly, if there is an occasion where two therapists are useful, Peter is able to work with me. This helps to speed up therapy with dissociative conditions where it would otherwise be much harder to work in my usual AIT role of "therapist and proxy patient" at the same time.
